Maes, born Mehdi Castellano on March 12, 1993 in Corbeil-Essonnes (Essonne), is one of the most bankable and influential rappers on the French trap scene. Breaking through with the single “Réseaux” in 2019, he immediately became a leading figure with a hard-hitting style and modern production.
His album La Haine c’est le moteur (2020) was certified platinum and confirmed his status. He has racked up certifications and collaborations with the biggest names in French rap. Maes is particularly recognized for his authentic lyrics about life in the Paris-area housing projects and his formidable punchlines.
With Bleu (2022) and his many mixtapes, Maes confirms his place among France’s most-streamed rap artists, with hundreds of millions of streams to his name.
Maes has collaborated with Ninho, Niska and many artists from the French trap scene. His features are highly sought after by other artists for the authenticity and impact he brings. His roots in the Essonne scene put him at the heart of Paris-area trap.
Maes tours nationally on a regular basis in major French rap venues. His Zénith concerts consistently sell out. He is especially in demand for urban events and hip-hop festivals.
